Clowning Around (Short, 2016)

Synopsis: While chilling out with a spooky movie over at Kyle's house, the FSP gang encounters a chainsaw-wielding clown sneaking around outside...

Clowning Around is an animated short film (with a Minecraft aesthetic) I co-directed with Melvin Hood and Trevin Kurgpõld for the animation group Fluid Script Productions. This was our “Halloween special,” even though our YouTube channel was small we still had somewhat of a following. Animated in the free open-source Minecraft animation program Mine-Imator this was a very stressful project since we had a deadline and only 7 animators. We got super stressed because our main modeler/rigger went past his deadline for some props and sets, but we somehow barely made it in time. This was written by me, storyboarded by me and Melvin Hood, edited by Trevin Kurgpõld, with music by Trevin Kurgpõld and supplementary art by me. The inspiration here was from the 2016 “scary clown craze” with an 80s slasher twist.

Storyboards/Animatic

Melvin Hood and I split the scenes and did the storyboards for our assigned scenes, which range heavily in quality.
